I have sporatically added more links to the Websites and Downloads page -->. Dreamspark and the MSDNAA are some good ones to check out for FREE Microsoft software (no free office yet, see "The Ultimate Steal" for a good bargain).

COSGC 5th Annual Robotics challenge participants:
Trenten Dopp, Jake Porter, James Gale
UPDATE: I just added a new gadget on the left side to show upcoming events. If you would like to add an event or even help with the blog/eet-club just send me an email. (suueetlabassistant at gmail dot com)

Also, if anyone would like to participate in the Colorado robotics challenge for next year they are tentatively aiming for April 12th. Get started now, those who participated a few weeks ago needed a lot more time to do "in-sand" testing. This is a great way to incorporate all the things you learn in the classroom and work with others as a team. I strongly recommended getting some other majors involved(CAD,CSIS, Physics etc). For more information check out these links or talk to Dave Ward, James Gale, Jake Porter or Trenten Dopp.

Robotics Challenge

To clear up any confusion about the Mars Rover challenge that we have all been invited to by Dean Freden, let me first apologize for not telling everyone about this opportunity when I first heard about it, and apologize to you who I told could not participate. I asked around and Dr. Emmons from Adams State and Dave Ward from SUU have assured me that:
  • Everyone is invited!
  • Unlimited number of teams.
  • Unlimited number of Rovers entries per team.
  • Unlimited number of EET Capstone or Senior-Projects.
  • Work in groups as large or small as you like
  • Join forces with other majors.

  1.  Getting started
  2.  Robotics Challenge Home
My synopsis of the event:

* The object is to build and program an autonomous rover that can traverse Mars-like terrain aided only by a direction finding RF and other localized sensors to avoid (and keep avoiding with good programming,) obstacles on 4 different courses.

* No winners, no losers, but awesome learning experience.

* Great opportunity to practice a variety of electronics knowledge such as: design&fab, communiction-circuits, Microcontrollers,  Programming, ect.

* Great EET Capstone/Senior-Project (Talk to Dave Ward about details)

* I have lot more information, from answered emails and reading the site so don't hesitate to ask.

~ Good luck! ~

Remember I open the Electronics Lab every Weekdays at 7:00 a.m. and stick around until 8:45 a.m. (other hours by request)

If you need help with homework/labs/projects there are usually a few good brains floating around, and it is a great place to study!
